Frequently Asked Questions
Feel free to get in touch to discuss in further
How quickly can care services start?
Once you contact us, we can typically start care within 48 hours following a free initial assessment. Emergency or urgent care can often be arranged sooner
How is a Care Plan created and reviewed?
A dedicated Care Manager will visit you to complete a thorough assessment, creating a personalized Care Plan. This plan details all your needs and is regularly reviewed—at least every three months or whenever your needs change.
Will I have the same carers every time?
We strive for consistency of care to help build a trusting relationship. While we cannot guarantee the exact same carer for every visit, we always aim to keep your care team small and consistent.
Are your carers trained and vetted?
Absolutely. All Jothno Care Services staff undergo rigorous background checks (Enhanced DBS) and comprehensive training in areas like First Aid, medication support, manual handling, and specific conditions like dementia.
What are the costs, and how do I pay?
Our costs vary based on the level and frequency of care required (e.g., hourly, live-in, overnight). We will provide a transparent, written quotation after your initial assessment. Payment can typically be made via bank transfer.
Can Jothno Care help with funding or benefits advice?
While we do not handle financial assessments, our team can provide information and signpost you to resources regarding local authority funding, benefits, and third-party financial support services.
What are the basic requirements to become a carer?
The most important requirement is a genuine passion for caring, reliability, and excellent communication skills. You must be over 18 and have the legal right to work in the UK. We also look for candidates with a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
What is the typical recruitment process and timeline?
The process involves submitting an online application, a phone screen, a face-to-face interview, a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, and professional reference checks. The entire process usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.
Is training provided, and is it paid?
Yes, we provide a full, paid induction training program to cover all mandatory standards. We also offer ongoing training, supervision, and mentorship to ensure your continuous professional development (CPD).
Are there opportunities for career progression?
Definitely. We are committed to internal progression. We offer pathways to Senior Carer roles, Field Supervision, and support for obtaining recognised qualifications (e.g., NVQs in Health and Social Care).
How are shifts scheduled, and is it flexible?
We offer a mix of full-time and part-time shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. We work with you to find a roster that fits your life while meeting client needs, and schedules are issued well in advance.
Am I paid for my travel time and mileage?
Yes, we pay a competitive hourly rate for time spent travelling between clients' homes, in addition to a competitive mileage allowance to cover fuel and vehicle wear-and-tear.
